Italian Restaurant Pizzeria Room Transformation- Language Arts Review

Italian Restaurant Pizzeria Room Transformation- Language Arts Review

You will see that there is a lot in this fun yet rigorous “Pizzeria” pack! Set the stage to engage! It doesn’t take much to make this into the perfect classroom transformation. I simply asked parent volunteers to send in 5 centerpieces and 5 checkered dollar store table cloths. Voila! You may also choose to wear an apron or chef’s hat. That was all that was needed to get the kids excited and transform my room into the Pizzeria. This pack of activities was created to really get my students to use the text and think a little deeper. You will see that many of the questions are not simply comprehension questions but tasks designed to have students apply deeper thinking skills. Here’s what is included in this pack -Pizza article on the history of pizza (may be used as a close reading) -2 pages of response questions/tasks to go with article There is a regular version and a “hint” version. I give the “hint” version to my lower reading group. It just gives some extra guidance so they can be more successful. -Pizza main idea sort based on the article Great as a group activity -Fiction passage on pizza -1.5 pages of response questions/tasks to go with passage (regular, and a “hint” version for students who need a little more guidance.) -Text structure pizza page (I used this as an assessment) (sequence, compare/contrast, cause/effect covered) -Compare/Contrast pizza vs. pasta page option 1 You will notice the topics of pizza and pasta are not given. Students should read all the words in the word bank and be able to figure out what it is they are comparing and contrasting -Compare/Contrast pizza vs. pasta page option 2 only word bank- students may use butcher paper or construction paper to create venn diagram. This was a great group activity! Answer Key Many answers vary, but I did try and give lots of examples This has everything you need for your room transformation! I spread these activities out through the week in 30 minute lesson blocks.
